Responding With A Simple Yes..
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, a small food drive was organized to help six families who were struggling to make ends meet. It was meant to last one day—just enough to fill a few empty pantries. But as donations poured in and needs continued to grow, that one-day effort stretched into a week-long outpouring of generosity. By the end, there was more food than the six families could use.
That abundance was no accident. It was God’s invitation to something greater.
Word of what was happening spread quickly, and soon the UP Center and the United Way of South Hampton Roads reached out to ask if we could assist even more families. We didn’t have a plan, a structure, or a clear path forward. But we had faith—and that was enough to say yes once more.
“Send them all.”
That simple response became the heartbeat of Manna Ministry. What began as an act of obedience has grown into a mission to stand in the gap for families waiting for long-term assistance. We provide food and household essentials to neighbors who lack transportation, while sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ with each home we visit.
Every delivery, every conversation, every bag of food is a reminder that God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people—when we simply say yes.
“And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with MANNA, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
